NHS IVF treatment expanded

Quote:

Women aged 40 to 42 will be allowed one cycle of IVF so long as it is their first attempt, the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) says.
Previously Nice only recommended treatment up to the age of 39.
Lesbian couples will also qualify for IVF, as long as they have a diagnosed infertility problem.
People with infectious diseases, such as HIV, or a physical disability that prevents them from having intercourse will also be eligible.

Not sure about this .The NHS has enough problems coping with sick people .Spending more of the budget on IVF treaments seems a bit strange

True, but the human rights act says everyone has the right to a family life.

Just goes back to other thread, I think it's wrong

Not in regards to the age limit being raised , but the other items.

I am coming at this as someone whom some one whom does not use the NHS.
Strikes me as crazy that this is funded at all - What has it to do with health. There again a lot of the treatments that it funds strikes me as a little strange.

There are now some people who prioritise their career and then find out later in life that having children is not easy for them. This gives them a chance to hopefully have a family one day.

It's not really a different thing at all.

If somebody can't have children because of a medical condition, then they can't have children and might not be able to afford ivf which means they can't have a family life. Which under the human rights act is a right they are entitled to as human beings.

IVF should be banned Abortion as a lifestyle choice should be banned and only abortions for medical grounds allowed. Those who wanted abortions give the kids up for adoption those who can not have kids naturally adopt from those who can problem solved

Sorry i don't see the connection at all .No one is denying anyone the right to have children so human rights legislation doesn't come into it .Even if ivf was withdrawn on the NHS altogether it still wouldn't be denying people the right to family life

It reminds me of the "Life of Brian"

"Where's the foetus going to gestate, in a box?"

Seriously though, they can have a family life, they can adopt. Thousands of kids needing good families and love, living in care.
