Alternative online streaming services

This seems to be a legitimate online service. I've only just heard about it, but in the context of Virgin Media's Anywhere and Sky Now/Go, etc, is this a genuine competitor?

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/media/ne...-channels.html

It would certainly seem to fill some channel gaps of VM's online streaming service.

(PS Apologies for the heading typo!)

FilmOn is illegal as it rebroadcasts channels to you regardless of your location.

Try TVCatchup, a much nicer service and one that is legal.

I don't think that's had it's final ruling yet http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/64...adcasters.html

Well TVC successfully won court cases against 4 major UK broadcasters, FilmOn just do what the hell they like and have terrible apps regardless.

I can't seem to find anything that suggests what they're doing is illegal. In fact, they seem to buying up rights to stream certain channels and content. What they appear to be doing is white labelling channels.

BBC have also stated that you still need a TV licence to view content - they're not claiming that it's illegal to watch.

Might not be the best but it works and i don't get the dropouts with FilmOn unlike the ones i get with TVC.

Between the 2 they cover everything i need most of the time.

Probably virgin broadband lag being the issue as Tvcatchup has never lagged for me on broadband or mobile (3G). Not once and I make use of it a lot. Should get a decent broadband supplier :)

Used FilmOn before but the ads were annoying on the mobile app. Might take another look now there is more content though.

Because virgin has a buffering video reputation?

Being a heavy user of the TvCatchup service and not having the issues, shows that the service is not at fault. Therefore the issue Sirius had is likely down to his broadband connection.

Of course you do :naughty:

Being that virgin media is your employer, that would indicated they can't get streaming to work even on a dedicated 1 gig connection, which is pitiful lol.

Tada! Reply delivered as expected?

Any reason why?

Yeah I could have done so much better with the unintentional bone you threw :p:

Still, I have now made the mental note that even virgin offices directly connected to their backbone on a dedicated 1GB connection have streaming issues. Thanks for that :)

Yet another thread you have jumped in solely to attack me with no actual input on the topic at all. Nada. Not one bit.

Any reason why you follow me around asking unrelated questions? Do you like rhetorical questions?
