Yes indeed this is excellent news and Exeter certainly needs it amongst other places after the flood ravages of this winter and the terrible disruption to transport services and businesses it has caused down here.

New flood defences are much needed in many places but how ironic we should be talking about them again so soon after forumites were debating the pros and cons of transporting water down south in pipes, canals and even on the back of lorries... :D

To be honest I think we need our coastal defences bolstered too. Leaving areas to just wash away forever into the sea seems like a very bad idea...
