Opinions wanted.
After a spate with some packetloss, and speed drops, which I only noted via JDAST, I cobbled together a small perl script that slups in http://192.168.0.1/VmRouterStatus_downstream.asp, and parses out the data, and saves it to a db for graphing.
Over the past 4 days the scripts been running every 30 minutes. The resultant graph for the power levels, looks almost like a jagged sine wave. https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2013/01/11.png And the SNR graph looks... very jagged. https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2013/01/12.png Coupled with the JDAST graph (couldn't figure out how to save the graph, so I screenshotted it) https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2013/01/13.png I'm wondering if I have a potential problem, even though the packet loss has mostly cleared up. What are your opinions? |

I would say the levels are probably changing with the ambient temperature which makes sense, I don't think they are out of range?

The JDAST indicates problemns I wouldn't want. Namely the jitter.
The 1.4 dBmv difference in DS power between highest and lowest channel isn't a problem IMO. The horizontal scale isn't labelled properly - so if the dips are during the day, when it's warmer, then the lower power (a drop of c. 0.6 dbMv) is about right if weather conditions on the 4 day period match. The SNR graph is fine. It's the number that matters not the minor variance. If you're up in the 40s, there's more than enough signal to overcome downstream noise. |
