"So shines a good deed in a weary world."
We all should look up to selfless people like him, the world would be a much nicer place to live in. Let's hope he sets a trend. :tu: |
Re: More honest than any politician
Well done that man! Truth is there are plenty like him - honest, decent, brave, selfess people whose fine examples rarely get reported. Reading things like this makes a nice change form the usual diet of doom, gloom and evil. It's a pity the media doesn't seek to achieve a better balance in what they publish.

Re: More honest than any politician
Hmmm.
On the one hand, full marks to the chap for his honesty. On the other hand...one has to wonder why anyone would be carrying so much cash around for any reason. If it was genuine winnings, surely he'd have been better advised to convert it into travellers' checks or something, or deposit it in a bank? No way in hell would I carry that much cash in the States...or anywhere else. Let's be honest - the only reason cash is carried in such amounts is for purposes which are at best shady and at worst criminal. If I were the airport police, I'd have checked the tourist's story. Unless they did? Does anyone know? |
Re: More honest than any politician
UK airport security staff do check for large amounts of currency and have dogs trained for the purpose. They certainly check for people trying to get money out of the country and if they can't prove it's legit they confiscate it and have to prove entitlement in court IIRC. I presume they do the same for incoming passengers. I'd have thought it'd be even tougher in the US but possibly not so for internal flights.
