Phone Line out but broadband still working
 

Hello.. my phone has been "dead" since saturday... the broadband has been working perfectly in the mean time but my phone line is just dead and it doesnt even give a noise.. ive tried to plug my phones into the "main socket" downstairs with the cables come but nothing..

anybody got any idea and why is the phone not working but broadband is.. are they on diffrent lines to the street cab?

The phone and broadband/TV are on separate cables with Virgin Media. This is why you can have broadband without phone from Virgin Media and why you can have a dead phone but working broadband.

ah ok.. im meant to have a guy coming now on thursday.. if he messed around theres no way he can disconnect my broadband or anything correct.. really skeptical with these Virgin people now...

need my broadband more then phone :)

Thats right, the broadband comes down the same cable as the TV service, so he shouldn't have to touch that

They do not mess around as they are cross trained on all services and know exactly what they are doing, if you are so worried cancel the visit and continue to pay for telephone line.:rolleyes:

No reason to be sceptical really, all the technician will do is check the cabinet connections and/or replace the cabling. Most of the time they'll call you from the cabinet confirming they've fixed the issue, so the tech might not even go near your property.
