Network problem since Superhub upgrade

Hi,
I recently had my old cable modem replaced with the Superhub and in order to get the wireless signal throughout the house, the engineer set up my old router centrally located by cat 5e cable from a lan port on the S'hub. My own desktop is hard wired into the S'hub.
I have a media TV PC and laptop receiving wireless service from the router.
All is working well, apart from they are no longer networked together.
My main desktop is part of a network called Network 7 and the two other machines are on my old network called 'Dougs'.
I can't work out how to get them all back on the same network again as I don't know enough about it.
I am on Win 7 and when I go into Network and Sharing and click join network I just get a blank box with nothing detected.
Can anyone help please?

Re: Network problem since Superhub upgrade

Turn off DHCP on the old router and move the cable from the Superhub onto a LAN port.

Re: Network problem since Superhub upgrade

Alternatively put the superhub in modem mode and connect everything to your old router?

Thanks, the more I've been reading, the more I think that is the problem. I'll try this out when I get home.
Is this what they call making it an access point instead of another router?
Do I need to worry about SSID names or IP address etc?

This would mean running a cable all the way back up to my desktop pc again which is upstairs next to the hub, although I'm sure it would work.

Thanks to you both.

......

In case you're kept waiting for Qasi's confirmation, Yes. The external router needs to be in bridge mode acting as an access point. SSID doesn't matter because you can have the external router working on 5GHz and the SH on 2.4GHz; they'd both have separare SSIDs.

Also if you put the router into the DMZ of the SH, it'll be in the same subnet.

I think you've possibly misunderstood the somewhat abbreviated advice given earlier...

Option 1 - Using the SH as the router:

1. Leave the desktop PC plugged into the SH
2. Disable the DHCP server in the external router
3. Plug a cable from a SH LAN port to a LAN (not WAN) port on the external router.
4. Optionally configure the same SSID on both the SH and external router
5. Optionally configure the same channel on both the SH and the external router

Option 2 - Using the SH as the modem only

1. Put the SH into modem mode
2. Plug the external router WAN port into the SH LAN port #1
3. Plug the desktop PC into a LAN port on the external router

Thanks again,
I'm all up and running now. Didn't work to begin with, but setting the IP of the router outside the range of the SH seemed to fix it.

Yeah the Superhub has some personality issues. It doesn't like not being the only router on your network.
