My uncle has a problem with his wireless printer, The printer says it is online, but the laptop says offline.

Any ideas what to look for, as I've never used a wi-fi printer.

His specs.

2 Printer Epson Stylus SX435W Model NoC461B

3 ISP Virgin media

4 Modem Netgear VMDG280

Re: Wireless Printer problem

Try logging into the router from the laptop and check what IP is allocated to the printer. Then look at the printer properties on the laptop and see if it is expecting it to be on a different IP.

It may be necessary to set a fixed IP on the printer so that you can create a tcp/ip port on the laptop that will stay linked.

Re: Wireless Printer problem

The printer may say online even without a wireless connection as it has mobile printing. Sounds like its not connected to the router

No probs.

I forgot to report back.

One Note had overwritten as the default printer and must have corrupt something, I reinstalled the printer and it solved it.
