Picture and sound breakup

I've posted this over on the official VM support site, but would be interested in any "unofficial" thoughts...

The start of last week, we were getting terrible picture and sound breakup on some channels. BBC1 & OnDemand most noticeable, rendering them unwatchable. Upshot was, a tech visit booked and came out Friday morning. Naturally, the problem isn't happening - box is fine, signal levels are totally fine although log files show a pattern of "Post RS Errors" and "No Signal errors" when this breakup happens.

Two things: It's well known that some parts of Bristol (indeed parts of our district) have major congestion/utilisation issues on VM broadband (http://tinyurl.com/bw7waxy), and the tech did mention some of the underlying issues here and give a pretty good idea of the fix and timescale. Very interesting, and well worthwhile knowing. As I mentioned to him, we're fortunate to be unaffected by these, our services are rock solid.. but there's the "back of mind" thought of something network-side being awry.

Second, weather. Most of yesterday, several channels were unwatchable including OnDemand.. correlating with some very severe rainfall across the south-west. The breakup does occasionally occur in "normal" conditions, but emphasis on occasional rather than as it has done the past week. Is it possible that rain could be seeping into something that it shouldn't?

Re: Picture and sound breakup

You can rule out broadband capacity problems. They can't impact the TV signals.

However, water ingress into cables or other components is certainly a possibility. Keep calling until they resolve the issues.
