Strange error appearing in logs.

Not overly concerned as everything still seems to be working fine but over the last few days, I've noticed a strange error cropping up a few times in the modem log:

TLV-11 - Illegal Set operation failed;CM-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CMTS-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

Should also add that there has been quite an increase in downstream power at some point in the last few days. it's gone from between -0.1 and 0.8 to between 4.0 and 4.8 across all 5 downstreams. Probably just a coincidence as still well within spec but might be worth pointing out.

Anyone with more techy knowledge care to shed any light on this for me please. Interested to know what it is, more out of curiosity than concern.

Cheers

Phil

I don't have techy knowlege relating to modems, but I can probably hazard a guess...

They sent out a signal to all modems on the node, with a command to set some parameter or other. Not all modems understood the command, and just ignored it after making a note of it in the logs. Quite a comon practice I think.

(Very)Limited knowledge here - but (Type Limited Variables) Type 11 elements typically AFAIK are relevant to CM interpreting it's TFTP'd config file and specifically updating SNMP MIB.
Probable causes, config corrupt, VM's bolloxed config, CM firmware/hardware issue….
Usually that error results in registration failing….but as you're online then draw your own conclusions. You'll otherwise need to google CableLab/Cisco specs for TLV Type 11 for more info. ;)

Personally I'd go for Netgears hardware+VM adapted firmware has crippled the SuperHub…. :(
