Poll - DHCP or Static
What is your prefered method of IP Addressing? Just out of interest, you understand, as I believe I'm a dying breed of static users ...... ;)
1. - DHCP IP Addressing. 2. - Static IP Addressing. 3. - A mix of both. 4. - What's an IP Address? |

*in some cases the device is set to DHCP but the DHCP server is set to allocate a known, 'static' address outside of the main pool. |
Re: Poll - DHCP or Static
D'oh! I suppose I should have included Reserved DHCP as well .......

Re: Poll - DHCP or Static

Re: Poll - DHCP or Static
A mix - static for my NAS and second wireless access point and DHCP for the computers, laptops and consoles etc.

Re: Poll - DHCP or Static
Static on all the fixed devices (PC's, Bluray, Sat, Printers) and dynamic on any device that move in/out of the house

Re: Poll - DHCP or Static
what's wrong with that?

Re: Poll - DHCP or Static
Static for my media server (well, technically "reserved dhcp", too lazy to set up true static), and desktop.
DHCP for my android, laptop, and tablet. |
Re: Poll - DHCP or Static
All static apart from my ipad and phone.
|
Re: Poll - DHCP or Static
Wired v wireless. Static for desktop, NASs, printers and TVoIP STB; DHCP for laptops, tablets and smartphones. New router means visitors now on a guest network and thinking of reserving IP for laptops using their MACs.

Re: Poll - DHCP or Static
I use traditional static for infrastructure, reserved DHCP for installed kit and pool DHCP for portable kit. I'm IP multicultural. :)~
