SKY1 +1 starts today; anyone know if we will get it as surely it must be part of the 'SKY Basics' package...

To be fair, though, with the amount of times that a lot of it's programmes are repeated throughout the week on Sky1/2, it's not an absolutely essential channel to have.

Got to agree Carl. Most new episodes of shows such as Arrow, Fringe, Glee, Trollied, A League of Their Own etc... are all repeated within 24 hours on SKY 2. Also just been checking on my TiVo, most shows are repeated up to 6 times within 7 days on SKY 1 and SKY 2. Some episodes of shows are also added to SKY on demand for 7 days.

If Virgin have to pay more for SKY1+1 personally I'd like them just to leave it. I'd much rather they invest the money in something like The Sony Movie Channel or CBS Drama. My trusty friend TiVo helps me catch everything I want to watch on SKY 1 without there ever being an issue.

Mine too, of course. However, we have to remember that around 75% of VM's TV customers don't have a Tivo; but the first part of your post addresses that :)

I don't have TiVo but it doesn't bother me. I just have a quick look on the Sky website to check out repeat times and dates.
