what causes this?
these thin red lines are outages and it cuts my internet off for a few minutes.
I was watching IPlayer and then I had the yellow X pop on my internet connection icon at the bottom right hand corner of my screen. I quickly checked all the lights on the hub and all went off expect for the traffic light which was flashing green and then everything came back to normal. looking at my graph this has been the 4th issues today, there was some issues yesterday but I have went weeks without similar issues. is there a fault on the line or they working on something?! Can't get my head around it. http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/s...06-11-2012.png |
Re: what causes this?
Sounds like your modem lost sync and reconnected again. You should check your signal levels.

Re: what causes this?
the power levels looks fine to me
the only you can do at your end is to check at splitters and behind modem if the coax cable connections are firmly tide also check at your modem router status >> network log ....if you have any T3 & T4 time outs |

Re: what causes this?
Does this happen in modem mode? It might be difficult for you to chack if you don't have a router or need to connect more than one device; but the SH is not a stable device in router mode.
That said, is your upstream power stable at 42.5 or does it move upwards toward 55 dBmv? Because that owuld explain what you are seeing. Upstream impairment. |

I dont have it in modem mode no. had another wee short outage again at 2am this morning |
Re: what causes this?
I'm saying that you should confirm your upstream power level is stable.
Also I'm suggesting you try modem mode (if upstream power is stable) to see if it's the famous SH instability in router mode that you are suffering. |

I'm not really all that confident about mucking around with Hub and changing settings. As I said this appears to be something new that has cropped up. Had another 2 this morning/early afternoon as poster above did say my power levels looked fine. http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/s...08-11-2012.png |
Re: what causes this?
You aren't the only one suffering these spikes. I started getting these recently and they are really annoying.
I'm in the lincoln area. Where are you? http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/m...3-11-2012.html |

Re: what causes this?
Certainly on legacy SACM I used to see these packet loss spikes correlate with UCD's in event log. Have a check to see if your upstream modulation is changing or your u/s channel frequency? Post your Network logs and "tick counters".

Re: what causes this?
Yes, what The Horse says = upstream noise
