Letter coming up on screen

Started noticing this last week while watching the Xfactor :erm: That when the show comes starts during a break or at the begining at the bottom right of the screen a letter comes up. Anyone know whats going on their? I have also noticed when I am watching On demand as well like the Walking Dead. It comes on screen for a couple of seconds. Just curious why is it there.

I presume what you're on about is the letter P appearing. This means that the show has Product Placement in it which basically means that a company/product has paid a fee to be advertised on the show. It is becoming more and more popular now, you will see it on a number of shows including Emmerdale, Coronation Street & Deal Or No Deal.

The P has been around for at least 18 months on UK TV shows. Its to indict product placement.

Ie in Corrie instead of a generic cashpoint there is a Nationwide ATM in the corner shop and other real products are now visible and mentioned.
