Shub reboots

since i've had the shrub it's been practically rock solid with very few reboots or issues.

now since the new R36 firmware updated the other week it's had issues. first the wireless refused to work, no matter what i did it wouldn't have it - left it for a day or two (had to walk away before fixing with a hammer :D). went back to it and i dunno why/how but it just started working again.

the bug now is the constant rebooting - at least a couple of times a day and it's not that quick at coming back on stream - the other day took about 10mis from when i noticed.

has anyone else noticed anything since r36 went live? as this is a bit of an irritant.

will try and post some levels later as on my phone typing this - although can't believe it would be them as fine before R36.

re: Shub reboots

interesting your syptoms/problems are the complete opposite of most shub users. Everyone has wireless problems and reboots pre-r36 but as far as I am aware the latest firmware fixed it for most peeps.

That being said, it is still unacceptable for it to happen and there is an easy dude. Rather than waiting for Virgin to fanny around with another round of firmware in which they may or may not fix it, get yourself a proper router.

If you put the shub in modem mode it ill fix your reboot problem and you can continue to use your connection without hinderance. I recommend Linksys routers, they are the bees kness in every way.

Thread title corrected. I'm not surprised your "Shrub" has a problem when connected to the internet. Plants usually get a bit frazzled when confronted with electricity :erm:

I though the forum team liked the device name to be spelled correctly so google would index the threads well. Shub is better than shrub for sure but hardly any better than the many, shall we say functionally descriptive, names I and others have been moaned at for using by the mods.

Because I dubbed over a Superhub in an Uber way.

well still at it, just checked and it seems it rebooted itself a couple of hours ago - was in the shower so wouldn't have known as pc was off at the time.

attached is a screenie of current power levels

Those levels are very similar to mine. I was having similar problems on R36 until recently (reboots, wireless dropouts) and my SH was replaced. Couple of interesting points from during my own troubleshooting (which was assisted by the excellent support community forum techs):

My SH was showing a lot of T3 and T4 timeouts. Check your counters which are near the top of the same page as signal levels.
Check your SH power supply. Mine was an old one that had a 1A output. I now have a 1.5A output model. Apparently the old ones may be underpowering the SH.

I would highly recommend seeking assistance on the support forums at

no errors there, but that maybe due to the fact that it rebooted again about 8.30-9 this morning but been out all day.

does anyone know of a way to see a list of when the shrub........sorry shub reboots? as maybe handy to pin down times to any works or area issues that i've been told are not.

you can setup a Think Broadband monitor and you can see when your connection dies from the graph
