No Internet in Huddersfield Area?
We have had no internet in Huddersfield since 1ish yesterday i'm told, the virgin status checker states internet should be fine in our area.
Is anyone else having problems? a lot of roads are been dug up lately to replace gas pipes around here, im wondering if they might have cut through a cable. Re: No Internet in Huddersfield Area?
yeah, the sooner the better dude. It is hard enough trying to get them to admit there is a fault so the sooner you ring up and moan with everyone else the sooner they can crack on and get it fixed.

Re: No Internet in Huddersfield Area?
Usually when ever Virgin has been randomly down its always been working again the next morning, so didn't bother calling last night.
We have a Virgin Business connection at work (which is working fine) and is not too far from where i live, so its probably not a very widespread issue. Better get on to them asap as you say! |
Re: No Internet in Huddersfield Area?
It turned out there was a problem with the street cabinet and the modem, not sure exactly what he did or was said as i wasnt there. However i'm told he went off to the street cabinet multiple times, after he had sorted the problem there (something to do with low power / signal i believe) he found the modem would still not connect.
He then replaced the VMNG300 with a Superhub and the internet now works fine again. He basically left us with a double nat as the Superhub was on the "R19" firmware which didnt support modem mode.... However i found a post on the Virgin forums which explained how to force the hub to upgrade, and managed to get it to upgrade to the R36 firmware. Its now running in modem mode with my Asus RT-N16 and i have no problems getting the full 100mbit speed. https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2012/09/54.png I guess time will tell if the Superhub is any good or not, however hopefully as its just been used as a modem it will be fine. 24 hours and no problems yet (touch wood) |
Re: No Internet in Huddersfield Area?
You shouldnt have to force it to do anything dude. When you first power on the shub and get it regustered on the network one of the first things it does before it lets you have access to the internet is check for new firmware updates. You should have seen lots of flashing lights on the shub for a few mins and it would have rebooted itself a couple of times while it was updating itself to r36
