If we go from M+ to XL do we lose our 6 month half price
 

Hi,

On Saturday I phone up to change our TV package from M+ to XL, but was told, we would lose our 6 month half price discount and be charged full price.

We started the contract on the 14th August, 18 months, first 6 half price,

She then said she couldn't do it as we was having the TiVo fitted and could only have 1 work job open.

Anyway is that correct we would lost the 6 month half price discount if we got from M+ to XL?

Yes, you would - the half price offer applies to the services that you have, not if you change them.

That doesn't seem to make any sense.

Had a very quick look at the VM website, and all the packages appear to have half price deals for new customers.

So, don't VM realise that if the OP stays on M+ because of this rule, they have lost increased revenue? Not to mention an unhappy new customer.

As I said, it was only a quick look, so I may be missing something.

Not getting into a discussion about the strategy as I'm not involved in it but it's how they've always worked.

I'd give Retentions a call (the thinking of leaving option). They can do things that the normal system won't allow. If you explain that changing to XL gives VM nore revenue from you over the next six months and makes you a happy customer, rather than one that can't wait to leave when the contract is up, they may be able to do something. Worth a shot anyway. I've only had to call them a couple of times over many years of service and each time, I've told them up front that I have no intention of leaving, but calmly explained my concerns and they have been very helpfull.

Just keep trying Big-Gaz. You'll eventually talk to someone who sees it for the no-brainer it is and let's you have the discount. Let us know how you get on!
