Modem Problems
 

Hi everyone,:wavey:
I've been having problems with my internet modem it's an old black 255 one, dropping connections and also my router has seen better days.
just phoned virgin and they said that the modem is faulty so are sending me out a new "hub" would this mean they are sending a superhub to me? and would i still need to buy a new router or does this hub do the job?
Sorry for sounding daft I've got behind with virgins latest equipment :D

yeah you'll get the SuperHub. The SuperHub might meet your needs so test it out first. If wifi is extremely poor then theres a few work arounds you might want to try before having enough and linking your own choice of router. Just ask as you work through it :)

the wireless is mainly for my laptop (if it ever gets switched on lol) kids xbox and my iphone i don't do major downloading from it although i do tend to watch football online from time to time.
i'll give the hub a go first then and if it's not good enough I'll get my own router

when you have got 2 mins dude have a look at your power levels out of curiosity because if they are out of whack getting a shub isnt going to fix anything and it would be nice to know before hand.

I dont know which tab they are under (if any) but you want to go to http://192.168.100.1 and it will be under downstream and upstream

Modem was the problem, Superhub arrived today (only ordered sat) well done virgin :D
anyway all set up within 10 mins of receiving 5 mins on the automated line to activate the superhub and woohoo back up and running and all is good so far it's been up running for around 9 hours so far and all is good and i'm getting a full signal all around the house and in the garden, so i'm all happy
