unable to send email

Hi i have been trying to send email all night and i keep getting ntlworld.com SMTP timed out errors, to be exact.

I think virgin is using gmail now, have you tried logging directly into gmail?

if i use the web based thing then it seems fine, but i like to use Thunderbird as i find it more convenient, i can receive email fine.
