MTV Classics - not on VM Channel 321 ?
 

Hi

read a thread on Digital Spy about a couple who were thinking of moving to VM from Sky but didn't want to lose MTV Classics

got me thinking as the old VH1 Classic - rebranded as MTV Classics - has been missing for about 2 years from VM line-up ( shame )

I did a lot of reseach on the Internet into Viacom and its ownership of MTV networks

frankly none of it makes any sense - if you go the the MTV Classics Website it says MTV Classics definitely broadcasts on channel 321 ? ?

it's even got the VM Logo there with Channel 321 marked on it as MTV Classics ?

yet it doesnt broadcast - the reason given at the time was to enable owners to show Comedy HD Channel - apparently 3 channels were pulled to enable this including MTV Classics

just don't understand - there must be loads of spare capacity on the VM spectrum - they are currently broadcasting an EXTRA 24 HD BBC Olympics channels and another 24 SD BBC Olympics channels ie an extra 48 channels ? ? ?

is there some dispute between Viacom and Sky ?

is there any way we can ask for MTV Classics to come back again

What have Sky got to do with VM not carrying MTV Classic ?

Sky carry MTV Classic on Sky Channel 355.

this is based on one of the threads in Digital Spy where the poster surmised the lack of MTV Classics on VM might be part of the Murdock Sky Policy of withholding channels from VM ( thought they weren't allowed to do that ?)

maybe that will change now Murdock has resigned Chairmanship of BSKYB

But there not his channels to withhold , according to wikipedia the channel is carried on Sky , Smallworld Cable , Talk Talk TV and UPC Ireland.

MTV Classic are advertising on their own website that they broadcast on VM Ch 321

maybe they forgot to plug it in

have now sent an email to Viacom asking if - as the MTV Classics website shows it's broadcasting on VM Ch 321 - they are about to re-start the service on 321

Perhaps someone should update the website. It was Virgin's decision to pull the channel back in 2010.

Thats been on their site for like a year now so probably just an error.
