IP Flood Detection

just got my new SH, got it activated and (fingers crossed) everything seems ok, wifes laptop is connected by wireless ok also.

Just checked the settings I notice that IP Flood Detection is ticked along with IPSec Pass-Through; PPTP Pass-Through & Multicast Pass-Through

I take it all 4 are meant to be ticked?

Reason I ask I have seen VM support switch these off in the past.

Ip flood detection messes with things and the firewall is pretty much useless as is the firewall on the vast majority of consumer grade routers.

as above. You think they are things you want turned on like making sure your house is locked at night but both of the features have caused nothing but problems from day 1 because they dont work properly.

Re: IP Flood Detection

IP Flood Detection along with all the other stuff on the Firewall page are firewall features. If you just turn off the firewall that gets shot of the lot apart from the various pass-throughs which will then show as defaulted to ON.

The Superhub firmware is known to be buggy so the less of its code you run the less chance there is of it screwing up. NAT and the standard firewall features of Windows are perfectly adequate for a consumer grade PC.

Re: IP Flood Detection

had a power cut yesterday and all seems to have reverted back to factory settings.

when i switch off the firewall and Port Scan Detection & IP Flood Detection I then ticked IPSec Pass-Through; PPTP Pass-Through & Multicast Pass-Through.

When I click apply it reverts back to normal and Port Scan Detection & IP Flood Detection become ticked and IPSec Pass-Through; PPTP Pass-Through & Multicast Pass-Through. becomes unticked.

Anyone advise me please?

also I can't connect the laptop to wireless.

ok managed to get round.

I unticked the PSD and IP Flood, ticked the bottom 3, left the firewall on then clicked apply.

I then unticked the firewall and then apply again and now the bottom three remain ticked and PSD and IP flood are unticked.

still can't connect my wifes laptop to wireless. Odd because everything was fine last night.

switched the router off and back on again.

all the settings I choose are still the same and the wireless connection is back.

Anyone know what has caused this reset?
