Sound problem with TiVo

I've got the 1tb launch TiVo connected to my yahama amp via hdmi, every other day 5.1 sound goes back to 2 channel stereo when I reset the box it goes back to DD 5.1 on the HD channels of course.

I've tried changing the channel and trying lots of the HD channels but they are all in stereo, only a reset sorts it. Is there anything I can do?

I also have a sound issue that may be connected to yours:
Does your amp click and pop when switching between 5.1 and stereo channels?
Mine clicks on both the HDMI cable and the Optical cable, but the HDMI cable actually locks the amp out and stops it reposnding to its remote until I disconnect the HDMI.

I have the same yamaha RX-V1900 amp as you and no such problems. The bedroom tivo connects to the older RX-V1500 model (via optical as there is no HDMI), and again, no problems. Both Tivos are 1Tb and were one of the first available after general release to current customers only, in Aprill 2011.

That may not help much, but at least you know it's not a general problem with that particular amp.
