Mute Icon

For the last few days every time i turn my V+ on there is a mute audio icon in the top left screen, this isn't the actual V+ mute audio icon and the audio plays fine, if i press the V+ button then exit the Recordings screen it disapears, next time i turn the box on there it is again?
Any ideas?

That's a very old bug. I can't remember exactly what causes it, but I think a reboot should make it go away.

DaMac, Spiderplant

I am in St Albans, Herts.

I am getting the same problem, noticed it since Fri 27/7

I normally put my Samsung V+ on Standby overnight and when i turn it on in the morning i get the same problem as DaMac

Spiderplant - You are right a re-boot does fix it and the mute icon does not appear but when i put my V+ in standby overnight and switch on the next morning the mute icon is back

DaMac - When i press home and then TV the mute icon goes

Just to add I have found this link on the Community Forum

Re: Mute Icon

I sometimes get this and it DOES mute the sound too. IIRC it is a white icon with red in the middle.

The only way to resolve it that I know of is to reboot, not ideal when the box is recording.

The V+ has also begun to need many more reboots than it used to. It sometimes freezes at times*, or decides to do it on it's own. *I don't mean during the 1am/3.15am daily updates.

Any ideas? Is this affecting everybody, or is my box on the way out?

Press Home and then TV does clear it rather than a reboot.

This is happening to some people after using BBC Olympic application. The cause is under investigation. Meanwhile you can avoid it happening by using the 'back' button to exit the application, instead of 'tv' or standby.

That makes the icon go away but unfortunately doesn't get the sound back.

Richard: You should give VM a call.

I didn't lose sound... just the icon appeared last Friday. Hadn't seen this issue for a few years though.

I got rid of mine by pressing and releasing the Delay button

"Delay button", where's that

Do you mean the one that pauses live TV?

Thanks for letting us know Spiderplant :)

It seems to happen with my box when the batteries need changing, but how can this happen when this function has been disabled by VM?

I thought that's what you probably meant, although it is called delay TV on screen :D

It hasn't been disabled by VM. If you programme your remote to control the TV's mute & volume, the remote sends the TV's code instead. But the STB will still respond to the standard codes if it receives them - whether that be from a genuine unprogrammed remote, or a programmed one that is misbehaving due to low batteries.
