Not sure if this one has been covered before, but I've just come across it.

Re: BBC iPlayer Speed Test

How accurate is it? Its just gave me a download speed of 19557 and a streaming speed of 17407,17519,18335. That would mean I'm downloading it 19Mb and streaming around 17Mb.

I only connect at 16Mb...Although my router did reconnect today....hmmmm

EDIT,WAHOOOOO

Modem
Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 21506 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 1208 kbps

Could this be due to fibre hitting my area in the next 10 days?

I've never really trusted this test. It seems to vary so much, and often doesn't relate to BBC iPlayer performance at all.

Did mine, and my download speed is worse than my streaming speed.

Download: 4815kbps
Stream (1): 10845kbps
Stream (2): 18475kbps
Stream (3): 15148kbps

Sounds like a bit of a waste of time then?
Thanks for all the feedback :)

Yeah! probably. I got a full 104Mb on the download test, but the streaming tests varied between 10Mb and 25Mb.

Please note this is a flash-based test. If you are running Firefox your result may be depressed anyway.

See fix for Firefox problems with Flash here. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/35443997-post20.html
