Cable Tv on Pc
Hi
I found this item on Amazon Uk trying to find out if anyone has ever used or bought one and if it would work with Virgin Media Cable Tv ? http://www.technisat.com/en_XX/Cable...946849658-229/ Thanks in advance for any help given ;) |
Re: Cable Tv on Pc
If its anything like the DVB-C tuners in some TV's then you won't get anywhere.

Re: Cable Tv on Pc
Yeah, unfortunately you're out of luck. Regardless of whether it's technically compatible with Virgin's network, they won't allow a personal device the keys to decrypt the channels.
I wish they would - I'd be first in line to buy a DVB-C tuner to pump TV into my PC - legally with my paid card. But it ain't gonna happen whilst they are able to lock people in using rented hardware. |
Re: Cable Tv on Pc
So I guess my next question is ?
Is there any way to get Virgin Media Tv on my pc not on demand but the channels I pay for ? |
Re: Cable Tv on Pc
Only if you use a capture card to grab the video directly from the SCART or HDMI port of the VM supplied box (even then hdmi might be protected)

Re: Cable Tv on Pc
As far as I can tell HDMI is not an option ? Do you know of a external capture card I could use as it would be a laptop if that was the option I had to use as my pc is upstairs and cable tv connection is downstairs ?
Thanks |
Re: Cable Tv on Pc
Maybe you should suggest it on the VM forums. After all Sky are doing it.

Re: Cable Tv on Pc
What about virginmedia player online?

Re: Cable Tv on Pc
The HDMI connection is HDCP protected although the SCART is not. If you want to record a decent quality copy then Google HDfury.
