It was only to fix a few bugs. You probably won't notice any differences.

So not bugs that Joe public ever saw then.
Worrying bugs that only effect what Virgin see.

What SP meant I assume was there are no changes to the interface i.e unless you look at the software version wouldn't notice it's been updated

Most of the time if you are paranoid and think they are out to get you, you are actually just paranoid

Still does not mean that they could be  :D. To be honest I really have no feelings about it. As long as it works ( in the broadest sense )
I am reasonably) happy.

Perhaps a warning that this is going to happen - if planned of cause would be helpful

They were bugs that only a few Joe Publics saw. That's why I said "you probably won't notice any differences". The chances of the OP having them are low.

Bugs that affect everyone are rare because they tend to get found and fixed during testing.

Why is a warning needed?

If planned & it cuts off something "you" were recording( *he had it when he had a recorded programme running,so can go back) it would be a niggle. Perhaps notice in this case would be helpful.Or even if it cuts across a live show. Simply what would be the harm to warn if you can?

The updates are generally done very early in the morning to minimise the chances of that happening.

Where the updates include functional changes, then notification is given (such as the update towards the end of last year)

To spell in out its called " customer service " something as a company Virgin seem to overlook. It does not matter that it only effects a few people-If you keep effecting a few people eventually you will effect most of them :dozey:

Except it has to be balanced out against the fact that notification will cause calls

So if it's an update that doesn't change anything noticeable, and is fact designed to stop issues and fault calls, notification would be counter productive.
