friend needs a new laptop
Anyone bought one if these? Spec looks ok for price.
Max budget is 329-350 http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/advent...86464-pdt.html |
Re: friend needs a new laptop
Spec may be OK but at the end of the day its an Advent, which to many is a steer-clear of brand.
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/acer-a...11784-pdt.html We (our family) have had many acer products inc laptops & none have had any real issue that was due to the device. |
Re: friend needs a new laptop
Can't say I've had overly positive experiences with laptops but Alferret speaks the truth.
That said, my main criticism of Acers is well, in my experience at least with my Acer Aspire the issues haven't so much been the power or the quality of the internal components or anything like that. It's more down to the fact that the screen seems very washed out compared to any other display I have and seems to develop blemishes if you so much as look at it, which I personally find very distracting. I wouldn't say I'm an expert on the matter but I've heard good things about the HP DV6 laptops, although I can't say the same is true of the G6 series - almost everyone I know with one has had issues related to a dying motherboard, and HP doesn't seem to understand the idea that, believe it or not, reinstalling Windows with different discs that they'll send me will not fix a hardware issue. That said, I haven't personally owned a DV6 or a G6. |
Re: friend needs a new laptop
The Advent is PC Worlds own brand, believe me these computers are rubbish, much like the back-up from PC World. Go elsewhere

Re: friend needs a new laptop
I'm a fan of HP laptops, they're running a clearance sale at the minute, this one seems reasonable for the price http://h20386.www2.hp.com/UKStore/Me...clearance-sale
Should add that it doesn't have a DVD drive, depends what your friend wants |
