Extra Virgin Box
This is merely out of curiosity, and if it is illegal please remember I'm brand new here and relatively clueless about cable TV.
I live in a flat, and we have a cable connection to the room which I previously used for a modem from Virgin Media. If I remember rightly we're on the XL package, and other rooms have cable TV. I want to remove the modem and plug a box in, although I'm unable to contact my landlord for the time being in order for him to call Virgin and ask them to send us another box. I've looked at the website, and allegedly since we're on XL an extra V+ box won't cost us anything to run or to get installed. This being the case, what would be the issue with buying a box from eBay and using it? As far as I can see, it wouldn't be illegal as we're already paying for Virgin, and they wouldn't charge us for an extra box anyway? Again, if this is horrifyingly illegal please remember that I don't know anything :) Thanks |
Re: Extra Virgin Box
You can't buy a box from ebay. They belong to Virgin Media. If you could somehow acquire one it wouldn't be registered to your account so would not work.

Re: Extra Virgin Box
So if I bought one, would it just simply not work, or would it work until Virgin found out about it and decided to take action?
I didn't think selling the boxes was strictly above board anyway, I just wanted to check - makes you wonder why eBay allows so many listings of Virgin and Sky boxes... |

Re: Extra Virgin Box
OK, thanks very much for your help - I'll just have to wait for my landlord. :)
