Replacement access point speed

Evening,

Just replaced our wi-fi access point with a TP-Link TL-WA901ND 300Mbps Wireless N Access Point.

I've got a couple of laptops connected - all good but the speed is reported at only 150.0 Mbps. I was expecting it to say 300.0 Mbps. While N is good upgrade from G, any idea why the speed is lower than expected?

I've tried changing the channels and the AP is in N mode only.

I'm looking at drivers now, but I think they are up-to-date.

Not much in the advanced config of the wifi NIC - and yes it's N compliant.

Any ideas?

Think I've found the answer:

Atheros AR9285 Wi-Fi card is limited to a max speed of 150Mbps due to the cards internal 2.4GHZ only radio.

Re: Replacement access point speed

That's not correct.

It is limited to 150mbps because it has a single stream radio. The 2.4Ghz bit is irrelevant.
