Agreed so long as we don't have the same scenario as with premier league football were it actually ends up costing us more.

Re: Sky Movies & Ofcom
Is this a joke? Netflix has only been in the UK a short time so it doesn't take a genius to figure out its affect would have been minimal to this point.

Re: Sky Movies & Ofcom
If you think this is good news you're crazy. If Sky lose exclusive rights to all the movies then they can't be forced to sell Sky-Movies to VM and could well pull them.
It will end up consumers paying more for the same so instead of £16 a month for all the newest movies it will be £16 to Sky, then Netflix will increase its price if it has to spend out on movies, then Lovefilm will buy some. Ok we all have access to Netflix,Lovefilm via our connected TV, Smart TV boxs(Apple tv,Roku etc) or EVENTUALLY via TiVo but we know the TiVo version will be the worst of the lot. But we will still all pay more in the long run. |

Packages will be priced to compete with each other but you won't get the one size fits all for £16 a month you can currently get via Sky movies. You will get some movies with Netflix, Some with Lovefilm, Some with Sky and you'll see other providers start bidding for movie rights. So I don't see how anyone will be able to get the kind of service Sky movies offers for the price we currently pay. I will not subscribe to Netflix I had the trial and although the streaming quality is good it just is not broadcast quality so my choice will be Sky movies possibly with less content and a lower price and I will simply download any other movies I want. You will not get everything we get now for £16 a month with any other provider, especially as if this goes through providers will probably be bidding for movie content packs like its done for the football. |
