Superhub over VMNG300?
Is there any advantage or disadvantage to having the superhub in Modem Mode over a VMNG300 + Router? I currently have a VMNG300 and a spare superhub.

Re: Superhub over VMNG300?
Advantage - Will use 8 downstream channels once your area has been upgraded, so a little more future proof. (Although the VMNG300 using 4 channels can easily do above 100 meg)
Disadvantage - Most people experience higher ping and more Jitter using the Superhub, even in modem mode, compared to a VMNG300 from the same location. Cheers |
Re: Superhub over VMNG300?
as above
if you do heavy downloading mostly then superhub will probably give you more benefits, round the clock speeds with 8 downstreams if you do anything else even just web browsing, you will be far better off keeping the VMNG |
Re: Superhub over VMNG300?
Stick with the VMNG300 until you have issues with it (you may never, the 4 vs 8 thing is mostly FUD and theoretically the device can supply a bit over 200meg).
If it does have problems, you can get the superhub activated pretty quickly. Then stick it in modem mode :p |

It may have been capable until they moved the goalposts and started to rollout 8 downstreams, the VMNG300 is the Virgin Media betamax offering. |

Re: Superhub over VMNG300?
its worth pointing out once more downstreams are added to an area vmng300 users will still gain from the extra channels as the channels then become lower utilised. My download speeds are fine now extra channels have been added and I am on a vmng300.
