Wifi drops speed

As the title says my wifi speed drops from 54mbps down to 21 mbps and I cant get on the internet.
To rectify this I either have to restart the laptop or mainly I just disable the wifi connection and then enable it back.
The laptop and the router are about 10 foot apart, the router is in the understairs cupboard.
Any help greatly appreciated

Re: Wifi drops speed

What channel is the wi-fi on?

My guess a neighbour is on the same channel and causing interference to you.

If you have a smart phone download a wifi analyser this will tell you the wifi's in your area and the channel they are on.
