Twitter 'racist' spared jail

A law student who sent a series of racist tweets to former Liverpool and England footballer Stan Collymore was spared jail yesterday

Pity that inciting murder and violent law breaking by similar means doesn't seem to be treated quite as seriously by the authorities....

I wonder if they would take a different view on inciting rioting, murder, and terrorism? ;)

If you're referring to a certain CF poster, have you?

If you're making a wider point, what difference does it make who I have or haven't reported? I don't inhabit dark places like the Twittersphere'...

No, I haven't. I was just referring to the 'pity' comment. They may well treat it equally seriously, but they do need to be aware of possible transgressions.

Hence my use of the word 'seem' in the OP. ;)

No doubt we'll see how seriously they take such things in due course.

It appears that the only thing you can report tweets for is spam.

Seems a bit backward

You report spam to Twitter, you report illegal content to the police. The reason this guy was caught was before the police became aware not because someone told Twitter.

Yes I understand that. But I do think that twitter should also have a reporting system the same as Facebook do.
