Quite criminal under the climate we are seeing with people income shrinking soon patients and visitors wont be able to visit the hospital.

I noticed during the snow I had to visit ours the place was treacherous they could not be arsed to clear the snow not even grit it. Ours is potholed like hell too so whats the fees for if its to keep the thing in good order then our trust aint done anything like that no better before it was free.

So who taking our charges making one big fat profit the trust or subcontractor.

It does stretch the definition of 'free at point of delivery' just a tad, doesn't it. :erm:

Unfortunately in many cases I think the Trusts have sub-contracted the parking arrangements and there's not a lot they can do without taking on the burden of paying off the contracts themselves. Even in Scotland, where hospital parking is meant to be free, there are a couple of places where private companies have been allowed to build car parks in the hospital grounds and there are now contracts in place that mean those companies are entitled to continue to be paid for cars parking there.

Yes l think it is disgusting that patients in which some have very serious conditions and who have to sometimes go hospital quite a few times in a calander month are forced to pay for parking their car which is in turn another financial stress on top of the stress they are already suffering because of their serious medical condition.

yep been for awile dont mind paying for the up keep if they actually do what said on the tin.

We used to get first 2 hours free and disabled was free. But now thats been removed.

We seem at our hospital lining someones pocket there was scores complaints in the cold snap of the dangerous conditions.

Infact reports broken limbs and cuts due to it not been gritted at the least. Now you would think who in charge would thought hang on this is hospital car park where injured disabled elderly would be walking on.

Well in our little local non A&E hospital we park outside the grounds because it's not worth paying the fees.
Unfortunately the big central 5 miles away A&E hospital isn't anywhere near local cheap parking or ordinary housing estate streets so we have to use what's available.We often have to queue as well.And they have built a new multi storey carpark in the grounds as well.

It's a nightmare if you have someone needing a wheelchair as the space for dropping off is too small and exposed to passing traffic.

The one by me is

1 hr - £2.50
2 hr - £3.60
3 hr - £3.70
4 hr - £4.30

so if you're visiting for a 2 hour slot it will cost £3.70
if you did that twice a day it'll be £7.40
if you did it 7 days a week it'll be £51.80

hang on, you can buy a £17.40 weekly ticket.
bargain.

I expect the double yellow lines team will be out and about painting the side streets and whatever soon. because the council is annoyed that nobody wants to pay parking charges.

The George Elliot hospital in Nuneaton made a small fortune in parking fee's from me and my sister when my father was staying there after a stroke. He was in there for 2 months until he passed away and they offered no options to us at all considering at least one of us was visiting every single day at the dinner and evening

It's free in Wales BUT only in those hospitals who have paid off the bills for building carparks. And that bill isn't dropping quickly as they have to pay for ticket machines, security and patrols that book you if you don't pay or run over the time limits.

Streets local to our hospital have all been yellow-lined (not even disabled can park) and a nearby public "free" area for users of the local parkland was also sold off to the car parking company who then slapped parking fees on everyone because some hospital visitors were parking there.

I'm lucky. My local hospital , Trafford General, introduced free parking in 2010 and hopefully it will continue to be free. The only thing I have to remember is to let the car park team know when I need to stay longer than the 3 hours allowed as parking longer than that normally gets you a fine.
