Any VOIP service (eg, Vonage) experience?
I'm considering dropping my Virgin phone line and am wondering if anyone has any experience of using Vonage, or any other non-PC dependent VOIP service.
I'm on VM's 20Mb broadband at the moment and am considering moving up to the 50Mb if this makes any difference. |

Generally, avoid using an ATA (Analogue Telephone Adapter) unless you really like the phone your landline is on at the moment and need to keep the costs down. ATAs are older technology, and not completely compatible with cordless handsets. At the end of the day, there are a myriad of providers out there. Choose what suits you best, has good call quality to landlines and mobiles, and hits your price point. There are those that operate on a pay-for-what-you-use basis, as well as those that do bundles of minutes and call packages which you may not use, along with a Fair Usage Policy buried in the T&Cs. The choice is entirely yours. :) |
