Anyone else
Is anyone else thinking of upgrading from 50Mb to 100Mb as there going to upgrade you to 120Mb and charge you the same price as a 50Mb customer

Re: Anyone else
Yeah What I meant was since there going to give you 120Mb for the price of 50Mb has anyone else thought of upgrading to 100Mb so you get it for the same price as you would be paying for 100Mb

120mb will be the price that 100mb is now. 100mb will be the price of 50mb now. 60mb will be the price of 20mb is now. So if you are paying for 50mb now as I am and increase the speed to 100mb now, you will pay the 100mb price now and then will move to 120mb when the increased speeds come out |
Re: Anyone else
You're already getting the UK's fastest widely available broadband, and starting this summer we'll be starting the roll-out to boost your speeds from up to 100Mb to up to 120Mb. We'll also be lowering the price of your broadband package in April to match the price of our 50Mb Broadband XXL packages.

Re: Anyone else
Yea, that will work, they confirmed it to me over the phone, but they will force you to have an engineer install which means taking a day off work to get it. Unless there's a problem with your line or you need a Shub, waiting for the free 100meg speed double will not require an engineer install.
Though it appears that if you have the VIP50 package you seem to be able to get 100meg upgrades now, without an engineer install. It is very certainly not possible if you are on standard 50meg though as they have to 'check the wires', the Scottish reps tried and tried for ages to help me out but the computer just won't allow them to do it without an engineer being ordered. And they did try really hard, I assure you. VIP50 customers, I assume, already have gold plated wires so they are exempt? I tried, I failed, I gave up. I sense the hand of Moriarty in this... |
Re: Anyone else
Gold plated wires? whats all that about, i'm on VIP50, but i was originally on Just standard 50 meg because at the time i moved into this house i didn't have the TV at first, so when i upgraded to VIP 50 did someone come and replace my wires with gold plated ones, I don't think they did.

Re: Anyone else
I was being mildly sarky there, sorry for any confusion.

Re: Anyone else
I've asked about the 100mb self install my self, and Masque who is virgin staf says that it has to be a service call because they need to make sure all the conditions (speed, upstream etc) are right before they install the modem, but basically it means the super hub is so p**spoor that they need to configure it the best they can to suit your needs BEFORE you start ringing up demanding you want it taken out because you can't get 2 device's to connect wirelessley whilst you have 2 items hardwired

Re: Anyone else
I've yet to learn of a VM installation grunt who optimises the SH for house wireless conditions.
They skedaddle out of the house as fast as they can having perhaps done just the basics to see that downstream power levels are OK (by their definition). The unwary customer doesn't stand a chance if there's a potential issue. |

Customers with the VMNG300 on 50mb have managed to get it done just via a phone call and that depends who you speak to at the time, but that agent is taking a chance as they can get themselves disciplined for not following process. Also as previously stated the is no replacement modem for the VMNG300 and either when it fails or the final rollout of 8 downstreams take place you will have no option except to have a Superhub installed. |
