Wishlist Help

i have created a few wishlists and it isnt recording them or finding any programs for them even thou the keywords are in EPG.

One of them is a wishlist of actors' names e.g. tom hanks, mel gibson ect. I have put the Actors names in the actors field in wish list, set it to record everything and until i delete. It isnt finding any programs with the keywords in. the film Big was on TV yesterday and that stars Tom Hanks and the film Braveheart was on as well and that stars Mel Gibson. In the EPG it showed there names so why is the wishlist not finding any programs?

I have the same issue with another wishlist i created with Manchester United and when a game is shown it shows in EPG that there playing and again it doesnt see any progams, why? It was working when i first set it up (Manchester United) and it recorded to start off with but now stopped.

No other recordings were due to take place when the films or games were on TV so it wasnt clashing. I also check planned recordings and recording hiccups and nothing in there. What is causing my issue?

It seems strange. I have left it as all catorgies (sorry about spelling) and also tried in films and same thing.

Re: Wishlist Help

Are you entering the name as "surname, firstname"? I've just checked "Hanks, Tom" and it finds 5 pages of upcoming programmes. "Gibson, Mel" also finds 5 pages, including Braveheart on Sky Modern on 29/12. Do you get the same?

Also don't forget to set the WishList to auto-record if you want them recording.

Let me know exactly how you've set it up. There are too many possibilities for me to guess.

I tried one with Keyword="MANCHESTER UNITED" and it found about 30 pages of results. But you'll get a lot less if you don't subscribe to MUTV.

Re: Wishlist Help

I think i have found the issue. All the names were surname first. I deleted the Actors wishlist and recreated it. I started off by putting in Jason, David and it found lots of programs, i put in more actors i doesnt find anything at all. As soon as i thumbs down them all apart from one (puts a minus sign next to them so doesnt do a search for them) i finds programs again.

Could it be limited two 1 person? I have another wishlist which as the keywords "Big Brother" and "Celebrity Big Brother" and it finds programs for both of them so could it be a field issue as in use Keywords instead of the Actor field?

---------- Post added at 17:24 ---------- Previous post was at 17:15 ----------

I have found it as also the same as the Keyword field as soon as i enter more that 1 word (e.g. "Manchester United" then enter a new keyword as "England") it stops finding anything

Re: Wishlist Help

If you put more than one search term, and don't press the thumbs, it only find programmes that contain ALL the search terms.
So "Actor=Jason,David.Lyndhurst,Nicholas" would find Only Fools & Horses but not The Darling Buds of May.

If you press thumbs to add a minus sign, that search term must NOT be present.
So "Actor=Jason,David.-Lyndhurst,Nicholas" would find The Darling Buds of May but not Only Fools & Horses.

If you add brackets that search term is optional.
So "Actor=(Jason,David).(Lyndhurst,Nicholas)" would find The Darling Buds of May, Only Fools & Horses and Goodnight Sweetheart.

I don't know how many search terms you can have in a WishList, but it's at least 7.

Re: Wishlist Help

if its 7 why is it unable to search with just 2 in there, its strange and annoying me, i dont want to have to create a wishlist for every person or sport etc? is it 7 different ones e.g. 1 keyword, 1 title keywork, 1 actor all the way ect in 1 wishlist?

It is searching for all of the words you are specifying. So "MANCHESTER UNITED.ENGLAND" will only find programmes about both (probably very few)

Having a wishlist for each actor is really the best way to do it. An added bonus is they will end up in separate folders in My Shows.

My seven item WishList finds programmes about New Zealand, but then excludes some I'm not interested in such as Motorway Cops, 10 Years Younger NZ, and any sports where New Zealand are playing.

Managed to get it working now. I have had to put the items in brackets but like you say it finds everything. I cant seem to find a way for it to work with more than 1 item when there is no bracket. Thanks for the help

Do you have a "Category:HD" WishList but the programme is not flagged as HD?
