Virgin media, internet dropping out
Hi, I don't know if this is the right place but anyway.
I have had a problem with my internet for a long time. It drops out but the computer never recognises it. Videos stop buffereing and gaming servers disconnect me on a regular basis. I thought it was just my old laptop being crappy but I have recently bought a new pc and gone for a wired connection. So today I wondered what would happen if I just plugged straight into the modem from my computer, and it is still happening. (If it helps at all, my friend next door is on Virgin aswell and never has this problem) Any advice on tests I should run or settings I should change? Thanks for taking the time to read. EDIT: Location TW2 We were with blueyonder before virgin I don't really know what im looking for for the make of the modem but it says on it Trade name : ambit |
Re: Virgin media, internet dropping out
you might find you need a new modem but can you post your power levels first. Open a web browser and go to 192.168.100.1 and you want ro be looking for 2 tabs which say downstream and upstream. If you can copy and paste the info in there into here that would be ace.

Re: Virgin media, internet dropping out
your power levels are ok but something dodgy is going for your upstream to be on qpsk. Have you checked out the VM service status page?

Re: Virgin media, internet dropping out
well see what happens dude, too much noise on the line can cause drop outs and it might have taken them a while to work out what is causing it. If you are still having probs give tech support a tinkle and ask for a new modem. It is a damn shame to get rid of an Abit modem though, may it rest in peace
