Tivo Service

Before i get this tivo ordered up can someone please tell me if these lockups with the boxes are as frequent as i keep hearing, i'm just getting a little worried that i should stay as i am (v+) for a little while longer until virgin sort the problems out.
your views & opinions would be appreciated :D

I've had tivo since April and have had to reboot it probably about twice its so low thats its difficult to remember but no worse than the SA V+. I have a feeling from reports here that the 500GB version may be worse but I will leave it for someone else to comment.

I've got the same dilemma. VM's support forum is worrying to say the least, although i do realise only problems will be posted there. Things that concern me are iplayer not working, picture quality and things generally being more complicated to do and, if i'm unlucky with the box/signal/tech, being without a Tv service over xmas. It does seem to be a tempremental thing. There is also the issue of red button/reminders but I don't use them anyway.
My head says its probably wise to wait a few months but since when did i listen to my head ;) Why don't you go first and let me know how you get on :)

My parents have a 500gb and it's been great , only issue they've noticed is inconsistent epg data from time to time. There will always be more issues reported with the 500gb model due to the fact there's more of them out there.

Haha!! i might go for it, although i have been advised it probably wouldn't be until after xmas as they are in high demand

yeah i refuse to pay for a box though, i think it's a cheek asking you to pay for a box and then taking it back when/if you finish the service

A fact that's very easy to forget, and not just with TiVo boxes.

Like national news broadcasts, it would be more useful if statistics were given as a percentage rather than a figure, because (for example) if 200,000 of 2,000,000 people are unhappy with a product one year then it jumps to 400,000 next year it doesn't mean the user base hasn't grown. The percentage could still be the same (in this case 10%).
