Odd NAS behaviour

Hi
I have a NAS at home and have no problem accessing it wirelessly or via direct Ethernet.

I also have several security cams I can also access on my network without any problems remotely.

I can tunnel in using my VPN router and a local copy of Shrewsoft and see all my cameras remotely.

However I cannot seen my NAS (directly connected to the router) over the VPN and am told it's all being routed via Seagate (takes forever) as I don't have port forwarding enabled (which I don't because I have never had to).

How can I access my NAS directly over my VPN and leave Seagate out of it?

Any help appreciated.
