listen very carefully dude because I am in/was exactly the same boat as you. I rang up (twice) a few weeks ago to upgrade to 100mbit and was told by 2 peeps that it would be no problem for me to keep my current modem (the vmng300) but just like you, an engineer had to come round to check the power levels etc etc.

What they are telling you is a lie and they actually book the job as a swap over and the engineer will want to change it for a shub.

You have got two options; you can make sure you are in when the engineer comes and make sure you keep your current modem or if he refuses to let you keep in, then you are going to have to knock the whole thing on the head.

That is what I was planning to do but they caught me out and the engineer came before I go home Wednesday lunchtime, took my vmng300 and now I am screwed.
