50Meg Down 5Meg up Is this download speed correct?
 
It just doesnt seem right :/ 50meg download? and im only getting 5megs tops of download speed on programs like utorrent. Im connected wired. :/

That download speed is perfectly normal for a 50Mb connection.

If you had 100Mb the actual download speed would probably be around the 12Mb/s mark.

Can't remember off the top of my head how to work out the speed of the connect versus actual speed of downloads but am sure someone else will pop along soon to advise :)

Well there are 8 bits to a byte but there are also overheads involved which drags the download down a little from 50/8 = 6.25MBps.

In practice offpeak on 50Mbps with a good source or sources you can get over 6MBps but anything over 5MBps isn't bad.
