Can I connect TIVO to my cable broadband outlet

I will be having some building work done in my lounge in a few weeks time so can I connect TIVO box to my cable broadband outlet which is in a upstairs room temporarily?

Assuming the signal level is adequate/not too high then it should work fine

Wouldn't the signal level be the same across any outlets fitted in your house?
