Couple of questions

Hi folks, looking for some help here please.
Currently on VIP50 with V+ box in living room and 2 old pace boxes in bedrooms.
One of the boxes in the bedroom is playing up and an engineer has been booked for Thursday to come fix it.
Meantime i have decided that should go for Tivo so will phone tomorrow to book this. I know they are booking well ahead for this but what are my chances of having the engineer on Thursday instal Tivo in the living room and replace the box in the bedroom with the V+ from the living room, save on an additional engineer calling out later.
Second question is that if at some point in the future i decide to swap the two boxes in the bedrooms around, i.e. move the v+ box from one room to the other is it as straight forward as just unplugging them and swapping them or is there any work needed to re configure the v+ box.
Final question is can anyone confirm if it is still the case that if i do take Tivo and swap the v+ with one of the bedroom pace boxes that i will pay £3 a month for the Tivo but save £6 on the removed box, seems to good to be true.

Thanks for any help, it is appreciated.

Re: Couple of questions

Even if they could change the engineers schedule you'd be better off first cancelling one of the pace boxes so that you save £6.50 a month on multiroom when they move the V+. If they literally swap boxes I don't think it will count.

If you book it in the engineer won't do it, if you wait for him he can upsell you a TiVo (and get commision) and a vhd with no fee, just £3 a month

The £3 per month TIVO fee is actually included with VIP50.

Re: Couple of questions

Swapping boxes between rooms is not a problem. Boxes and smartcards are paired so as long as they stay together you can put them in any room.

Re: Couple of questions

Well good news, I did what jb66 did and waited till engineer called today. Wife mentioned to him we were thinking of getting TIVO and he immediately offered to instal it today. He offered 500Gb for free, she asked for the 1TB one, he called base and asked for price. He told her £49 total cost, saving over £50. She insists that was all he said, so will wait to see next bill to see if instal and activation charge added i.e. £99 or just the £49. Either way really happy as he said that the instal teams are flooded and next instal date is after xmas. They are being told if anyone mentions TIVO when they are doing repair on old box to sign them up right away. Thanks again for all your help

Re: Couple of questions

Basically you don't pay an install fee if a tech upsells you as we're already at your property, so you were quoted correctly.

Enjoy your Tivo :)

I didn't realise that you had wait so long now for a new TiVo installation. When I called to arrange my Tivo earlier in the year, I was expecting to have a long wait, but was pleasantly surprised when I was told they could do it the following week. I guess the advertising has worked!

Re: Couple of questions

Well box is all set up and i have had a couple of days messing about with it and am well pleased. I have a home cinema system set up with a Harmony one remote control operating TV, Xbox 360, AV receiver and TIVO. It makes the whole thing simplicity itself. As long as reliability is OK then i would recommend it to anyone.
