Minister Oliver Letwin dumps documents in park bins

Cabinet Office minister Oliver Letwin has admitted dumping government documents in park bins near No 10. He was photographed by the Daily Mirror disposing of private letters and government papers over five days.

The paper claims more than 100 were thrown away including correspondence on terrorism, national security and constituents' private details.

seems very blase to me at the best and a serious breach of procedure at worst .Why is he taking official documents into a park anyway ? are they documents that need to be disposed of secretly without any record ?

It will be interesting to see if Cameron has the bottle to sack him or just ignore it in the same way that he has done with the Fox issue.

Did they all go to the same public school and would Cameron be seen as a "Bad Egg" if he sacked these idiots.

It's hardly the crime of the century. Stupid? Yep but not necessarily career ending.

Not too sure about what he has dumped:

Mr Letwin has previously spoken in the House of Commons of the vital importance of data security and the need to protect against identity fraud.

Derek like the photo but on career ending it could and in my opinion should.

If the DATA Protection get hold it investigate he COULD be in big big trouble with either fine or even banned holding personal information. Net result impossible to do his role. I hope they do they far too long turned blind eye to some serious breaches of government failings looking after data properly. Such leaving laptops as example about time data protection did its job.

The fact personel details and information from constituents god knows what these individuals issues where to needing contact local MP.

Therefore his highly diseregard to them should mean sacking alone. From contacting my MP the sort infomation I put then there would certainly likely to be very sensitive information.

Fact goverment documents was chucked too means he should get his p45 sharpish.

Do these public school yuppies have any brains, common sense.

Is that why you are really upset? Because he is a Tory?

So if it was a labour MP from a working class background who decided to bin the documents would you be calling for his head quite so loudly?

What a stupid thing to do...If the papers were really unimportant then at least he should have done it out of sight of the public.

He could have left them in a taxi or on a train.;)

Me for one do not care which party it is, But when he dumps constituents details in the bin at the risk of ID fraud IMO. Anyone that does anything like this should go straightway.
