Word 2010 spacing question

The default setting on Word documents seems to be to have a '10 pt' space between each line when you're typing something. I've never wanted this space so each time I need to type something up I have to go in and manual change it to zero (Page Layout>>>Spacing).

Is there any way to change the default setting to zero?

Not had word installed for a long time but you'll probably have to create a custom page layout (like for example A4) then set that layout as the default.
