I take it your are viewing via HDMI cable?,if so, if HD wasn't activated you would not be getting a picture on the HD channels.

Re: HD

Have you also got the scart cable connected from the box to the TV as well as the HDMI?

what devilincarnate means is if the scart lead is still in then that usually overrides the HDMI connection and you are right not to have it in.

Re: HD

You could try these steps to see if they work?
Quote:

Your new V HD Box is set up and
ready to receive high definition TV
channels and on demand programmes
in stunning quality.
First up, here are a few important
things you need to know:
1. To watch TV in high definition, your
TV has to be HD Ready. If it isn’t,
everything you watch on your V HD
Box will be in standard definition (and
you won’t be able to watch some HD
programmes at all).
2. You need to connect your V HD Box
to your high definition TV using the
HDMI connection. If you connect using
a SCART lead, nothing you watch will
appear in high definition.
3. Once you’ve connected your HD
Ready TV to your V HD Box you’ll need
to update the box’s settings. Here’s how
to do it:
• Press Home, select Settings
and then Display & Audio Settings.
• Change the ‘TV is connected to’
setting to HDMI.
• You’ll notice there are four different
HDMI settings – 720, 720 wide, 1080
and 1080 wide.
• Your HD Ready TV should support all
of these, but you should ideally select
the output that matches the maximum
number of lines your HD TV can
support (720 or 1080).
• The wide setting options stretch
the TV picture and the on-screen
programme guide graphics to fill the
left and right portions of the screen.
4. Even if you have a high definition
TV and a V HD Box connected using
HDMI, only certain channels and on
demand programmes are broadcast in
high definition. All other channels and
programmes are delivered in standard
definition.
Right, now you know all about high
definition, just turn over to
