How do I Dislike a Suggestion?
 

Most of TiVo is great. That it tries to record stuff that you might like is a great idea. But that seems to be based on the thumbs up ratings from programmes and series links you have set. So off it goes and makes a suggested recording. How do I tell it I don't like a suggestion so that it improves, and more importantly doesn't waste effort recording further programmes in that series that I won't want to see?

Doesn't seem to have any effect. It still seems to record further stuff of series that I really do not want.

It's suggestions though and may take time to tune in to what you like. Some of them will be because you like certain other shows as well not just if you like them. Press the thumbs down three times as you can really mark it as disliked by doing that.

Are you actually going into the info page for the programme or pressing the thumbs down button on the main list? IIRC pressing on the main list its will just bonk and not affect the thumb rating. You need to press OK to bring up the info for the programme and then change the thumb rating. By doing this I've pretty much turned my TiVo into an American Sports fanatic as that's pretty much all it records as suggestions now. :D

But surely it should take into account your preferences or dislikes no matter what no matter what menu you are on as thats what it does on my box.

What I was trying to say was that in the main suggestions list the thumbs buttons don't actually do anything. While it does take your likes and dislikes into consideration it will also suggest programming based on what others who like some of the same programmes as you have thumbed.

For example, I have given Pardon the Interruption on ESPN America two thumbs up. If others who have done the same have also given thumbs up to the UK version on ESPN then I will sometimes get the UK version recorded as a suggestion, which does sometimes happen for me.
