Home network setup
Hi guys (first post :)) I really hope someone can help me ot here....
I have a laptop and 2 desktops in my house along with admin access to a Belkin F5D8235-4 v1 Laptop - Win7 Ultimate 32 - Intel PRO100 + Intel PRO/wireless 3456abg Main Desktop - Win7 Home Premium 64 - Realtek PCIe GBE Test Rig - WinXP - Netgear WG311v3 Also available is a USB wireless adapter (RTL8187) because of range issues of the INT3456 Am trying to route a wireless connection in through my laptop and then out through the LAN to the belkin router and then on through LAN and WLAN to whoever requires it. I am having major problems with the router seeing an internet connection through its WAN port (saying not connected) I have managed to route pc to pc by changing the router IP to 192.168.1.1. (default is 192.168.2.1) and i can route the internet connection if i change some DHCP and ip allocation settings but that stops pc file sharing etc. I suppose i could live with (although not ideal when using a test rig in a different room) losing file sharing on the home network and give internet access to all pc's but when i start OpenVPN on laptop that kills the internet to pretty much everything! I really hope someone can shed a little light on this problem for me, its been driving me crazy lol, please feel free to ask for any more information required to reach a potential solution other than the brief above Thanks in advance.... |
Re: Home network setup
I think you might need to draw a sketch of your proposed network layout. The text description suggests it is all a bit convoluted, which is probably why it doesn't want to work as you are getting conflicts between the multiple network layers.
