Wireless router recommendations
Hi Folks, since I don't seem to be able to pick a decent wireless router myself I've decided to ask 'the internet' for recommendations.
Simply put the two routers I've picked myself so far both have had issues. One could not cope to P2P at all, any more than a handful of incoming connections and I lost all access. My current one can't provide a stable wireless service for more than a few hours so I have to reset the router more or less every time I want to use the laptop or ipad. It also seems to not like one or two webpages which won't finish loading until a reboot. So I'm after a 802.11n wireless router (not ADSL), preferably up to about 70 quid that... i) The wireless works for days at a time with fairly frequent connections/disconnections i.e. four or five a day :-) ii) Has at least two 'outgoing' ethernet ports iii) Wireless works with a Mac and iPad2 without issues with WPA/WPA2 encryption. Getting a superhub by going from 20 to 30 has crossed my mind but there seems to be quite a few complaints about it. I'm waiting to see if the R30 firmware upgrade fixes things. Ta for the PM, this should answer that too. Dave |

VM will announce the day they will release R30 tommorrow > http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...11/td-p/677963
I'm currently testing R30 and have no complaints. Take a look in the cable internet section for more on R30. |
Re: Wireless router recommendations
Get a DIR-615. Costs £10 or less off Ebay and is a flexible and reliable 802.11n router that works with just about anything (including third-party open-source firmware)
